What is included in an all-inclusive car rental?
When you rent a car via Sunny Cars, the following is included in the rental price:
All cars include unlimited mileage, so you do not have to worry that you will exceed the set limit and need to pay for extra mileage.
If you cause damage to third parties, whether material and / or physical, a third-party liability insurance covers this damage. In Europe, standard third-party liability coverage is usually sufficient, but outside of Europe there are a number of countries where the maximum coverage is much lower than the Dutch standard of € 5 million. A few examples of these countries are Canada, Curaçao, Greece, South Africa and the United States.
If you are involved in an accident in one of these countries, you will often get engaged in long legal procedures and you can face a huge financial risk. Damage to third parties, due to an accident, may increase quickly. In order to increase the maximum coverage to a minimum of € 7,5 million, Sunny Cars has therefore concluded an additional third-party liability insurance.
It can always happen that you accidentally cause damage to your rental car due to your own fault. Provided that it is demonstrable that you have been negligent, Sunny Cars will compensate you for the damage.
This insurance, Theft Protection (TP), covers the financial damage in case your rental car is stolen. Your personal items in the car are not covered by this insurance, but are covered by your personal travel insurance.
If possible, Sunny Cars has already redeemed the excess. In countries where this is not possible, an excess will still be charged. In case of damage and/or theft, you will still have to pay (a part of) the excess. Once at home, you can submit a declaration for this amount to Sunny Cars and they will refund you the amount as soon as possible. Of course, provided that you meet the conditions.
You do not need to add any additional insurance on the spot for covering window, glass, tire, undercarriage and roof damage. This is already included at Sunny Cars. If you have a dent or a scratch, you first need to pay the amount yourself to the local rental company. Once at home, Sunny Cars will refund you the full amount.
All rental prices shown include local taxes.
A number of airports charges rental companies a certain amount for the use of airport facilities. These costs are already included in the rental price, provided that this is not allowed by law.
At Sunny Cars your have an option period of 14 days. So if you cannot decide immediately, you can still cancel your booking within 14 days.
Should you wish to change anything after booking your rental car, this can be done free of charge up to 4 hours before the start of the rental. Once you have added FlexService to your reservation, you are flexible until the very last moment..

What is a fuel policy and which fuel policies are offered?
Do you need to refuel your rental car or can you drop off the car with an (almost) empty tank? The arrangements about how you drop off a car at Sunny Cars are secured in a fuel policy. With a fuel policy you know exactly in advance what you can expect and what you pay, so that you are not faced with unexpected surprises and / or surcharges.
To avoid “hassle” at the desk, at time of booking you will be offered a particular fuel policy or you can choose from one of the below fuel policies:
- FF (full-full): you will drop off the car with the same amount of fuel as you have picked up the car.
- FP (full-paid): with this option one tank of fuel is included free of charge in the rental price. You will pick up the rental car with a full tank and you will drop off the car with an (nearly) empty tank. In this case you do not need to refuel the car. If you still deliver the car with a half full tank, you will not receive a refund for unused fuel.
Sometimes a fuel policy is not possible at a number of local partners, because there has been chosen for address delivery or delivery outside office hours. During the reservation process, the fuel policy option will be shown gray.

Besides the Premium package, Sunny Cars also offers a Premium Plus package. This package offers the same extras as the Premium Package, but with the addition that you do not pay a deposit. Sunny Cars takes full responsibility for the deposit, so you do not require a credit card.
The Premium Plus package must be reserved at least 5 days before the start of the rental and is currently only available at the airports of: Corfu, Dubrovnik, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Heraklion, Ibiza, Kos, Lanzarote, Majorca, Menorca, Rhodes , Santorini, Split, Tenerife and Zakynthos.
When you rent a car, you usually need to have a credit card in the name of the driver or you need to pay a deposit. If you choose the "No Deposit Package", Sunny Cars will fully take over the risk of the deposit. When you pick up the car, you do not have to show a credit card and you do not have to pay a cash deposit.
The No Deposit Package can only be reserved at least 5 days prior to the start of the rental.

With the Express service, you can pick up your hire car really fast:
- By registering online in advance. The rental agreement is then completed as soon as you collect the car.
- Because you get priority at the desk of the local partner's.
In addition you will use the FF fuel policy. This implies that you hand in your car with the same amount of fuel as you picked up the car.

By adding the Under Age Package to your reservation, the minimum rental age will be reduced from the age of 25 to 21. If you also meet the other requirements which a country and / or a rental company demands with regards to your driving license and your age, you can already rent a car from the age of 21.
If you plan to go camping with your car, then you can choose a tent package. This service is only available at Windhoek airport. Your rental car will be equipped with a rooftop tent and all the necessary equipment for your camping adventure.>
If you are going to drive on a winter destination or during a winter period in which winter tyres are mandatory, winter tires are included in the rental price.
The WT package is currently available in the following countries: Austria, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland. In France winter tyres are not mandatory, but it is advisable to reserve winter tyres, at an additional surcharge.
With the VIP service, an employee of the local rental company will wait for you at the gate and he/she will take care that you will get priority at customs. Once you have passed customs, you can use the special fastlane and the rental agreement is already completed for you.
At the moment the VIP service can only be reserved on the airport of Johannesburg, in combination with the Express Service.
Which extra’s and/or accessories can be reserved?
When making a reservation you can also indicate whether you want to reserve extra’s en/or accessories. However, these are not always included in the rental price and are usually to be paid for on site. Extra’s which you can be reserved in advance are:
If you want to drop off your car at a location other than where you picked up the car, we are talking about a one way car rental. A one way car hire is permitted on request at many destinations and possible in different ways. For example:
- Pick-up the car at airport/city A and drop off at airport/city B
- Pick-up the car at airport A and drop off at city or state B (or the other way around).
- Pick-up the car in country A and drop off in country B. This is called an international one-way rental and is only available on request. With this option you need to pick-up and drop off the rental car at the same rental company.
At popular rental locations, a one-way rental is free of charge when you rent a car for a minimum of 3 days. But there are also a number of destinations that charge a one-way rental fee, which you must pay on site. Usually, this is also applicable to an international one-way. The surcharge for this can be found in the rental conditions during the booking process.
If you do not feel like getting into your rental car immediately after your arrival or you only need a rental car a few days later, you can choose to have your rental car delivered to your accommodation at the moment you prefer. This service is also called hotel delivery and is free of charge at some popular rental locations. If you want to have your rental car delivered at a particular address, there are some things that are important to know:
- Depending on the local partner, address delivery can be requested during the booking process and is available at many rental locations.
- To use this service, your hotel or apartment must have a reception.
- The possible surcharge for address delivery can be found in the rental conditions and must be paid on site.
- In some cases it is also possible to drop off the rental car at your accommodation.
To be able to rent a car, you must be 23 years old (on average) and the car rental company usually also requires that you have a valid driving license for at least 1 or 2 years. However, these rules may vary by car category, destination and rental company. For example, you can rent a car at 21 years at one rental company and you must be 25 years at the other rental company. Which minimum age and / or maximum age applies can be found in the rental conditions.
On a number of destinations, it is possible to reduce this minimum rental age by arranging an additional insurance. For this reason, Sunny Cars offers the Under Age Package.
If your travel companion also wants to drive with the rental car at your destination, then your travel companion must be requested as an additional driver. A second or extra driver is sometimes free of charge, but a rental company can also ask for a surcharge on site. In addition, you can also choose to book a Second Driver or AD package (AD is the abbreviation for Additional Driver) and then 1 additional driver is included in the total rental price.
Both drivers, the main driver and the additional driver(s), should therefore sign the rental contract upon collection of the car and must also show a passport and valid driver's license.
Not all the rental companies approve that you bring a rental car to another country. If you intend to travel to several countries with your rental car during your trip, it is advisable to check with Sunny Cars whether a border crossing is permitted according to the rental contract. Sunny Cars will ask for permission from the local rental company and will arrange this for you.
A number of rental companies charges an additional fee for a border crossing and can be found in the rental conditions.
In addition to a number of extra’s, Sunny Cars also offers the possibility to rent accessories on site (if available). Most accessories can be reserved separately, but GPS and winter tires are also available at a number of partners via a package. A reservation with which you would like to reserve accessories will always be on request, as Sunny Cars must check availability with the local partner. Once the accessories are confirmed, your car rental will also be confirmed and you will receive a confirmation. The payment of separate accessories will then be done on site. If your accessories are booked through a package, the costs for the accessories are already included in the rental price.

If you do not like to idea to bring a baby- or childseat from home, then it is also possible to rent these for an additional fee. For the use of baby- or child seats there are a few things you should think of:
- In countries within the European Union (EU), baby- and child seats are mandatory for children until a height of 1,35m (until 18 years of age). But there are also countries where you must be at least 1,50m to be able to travel without a child seat.
- Which child seat you need, depends on the weight of your child:
- Less than 13 kilograms: baby seat (group 0 and 0+).
- 9-18 kilograms: child seat (group 1).
- 15-36 kilograms: seat raiser (group 2 and 3).
- more than 36 kilograms: a seat belt, possibly together with a seat raiser and an extra seat belt.
- If you want to be sure that your child is sitting on a clean seat, you can choose to take a clean slipcover for a child seat.
Nowadays, almost nobody navigates with a road map anymore, but uses GPS to find the best route to a (final) destination. At Sunny Cars there are 3 options to rent GPS:
- A GPS package: When making the booking, if available at the destination, you can choose to add a GPS package. In this case, the costs for the GPS are already included in the rental price and you do not have to pay a surcharge on site.
- A built-in GPS: When you choose a bigger and / or more luxurious car, it might already have a built-in navigation system. A built-in GPS can be recognized in the specifications as NAVI.
- A separate GPS: You can request a GPS as a separate accessory. The booking will be upon request and will be confirmed as soon as the availability of the GPS is confirmed by the local rental company. The surcharge of a separate GPS needs to be paid on site.
Certainly when you are traveling outside Europe, the use of the data connection (internet) on your mobile phone can quickly become expensive. If you want to have an internet connection on the go, then there are a number of destinations which offer the possibility to book a mobile wifi system. This is possible on request at an additional surcharge.
If you rent a car in wintertime or in a wintry area, snow chains are a valuable addition to the equipment of your rental car. In some countries, it is even mandatory within a certain travel period to carry and / or use snow chains. Snow chains are on request at time of booking and an additional surcharge may apply.
When you go skiing, you car is often packed and then the use of a ski rack can be very useful. This way you can transport your ski-equipment on the roof of your car. If you do not have a ski rack yourself, you can request this at Sunny Cars at an additional surcharge.
Can you rent a car without a credit card?
At Sunny Cars you can rent a car without a credit card. But this is only possible if you opt for a No Deposit Package or if the local rental company allows this. The conditions can be found in the rental conditions.

How does a rental car pick-up work?
