For a long time the beach of Blue Bay at the Blue Bay Curaçao Golf & Beach Resort was only accessible to members, but since 2005 this has changed and the beach can now be visited by everyone.
You can spend a day relaxing on the white sandy beach underneath a palm tree, have a swim in the Caribbean Sea, explore one of the two coral reefs while diving or snorkeling, play golf at the 18-hole golf course or end your day at the beach with a drink at the Sunset Bar & Grill, while looking at the beautiful sunset. Location Blue Bay
Blue Bay (Blauwbaai) can be found in the 220 hectare luxury Blue Bay Curaçao Golf & Beach Resort and is centrally located on the south coast of Curaçao (Dutch Antilles), on a 20 minute drive from Willemstad.
Transport to Blue Bay
By rental car
The best way to reach Blue Bay is by (rental)car. You can rent a car for example via Sunny Cars. They are one of the largest independent European providers and offer an all inclusive car rental, with no hidden surcharges.
By taxi
From Otrabanda, Punda, Curaçao Hato Airport and various accommodations you can travel to Blue Bay by taxi. However, Blue Bay has not got a taxi rank. So if you, for example, want to return to Willemstad by taxi, you need to arrange upon a pick-up time with the taxi driver beforehand.
Despite the fact that taxi fares are being set by the government, not all taxi companies comply with this. It is therefore wise to agree on a price before you get into the taxi. From 06.00-23.00h (06.00am-11.00pm) you pay a normal price for 1-4 people and when you travel between 23.00-06.00h (11.00pm-06.00am) a 25% surcharge will be added. You can easily recognize taxis by their number plates, which start with TX.
From Willemstad the costs for a taxi during the day are between USD 20-30 / € 17-26.
Public transport
There is no bus to Blauwbaai itself, but up to:
- Canoaweg at Sint Michiel (bus 8A), at 4.8km from Blue Bay and;
- to Kaya Mata Siguaraya at Jandoret (bus 8B), at 3.0km from Blue Bay.
Please bear in mind that from these points there is no transport to Blue Bay itself.

A staff member of Blue Bay is walking across the beach and will automatically come to you for the payment of the entrance fee. Do you stay at one of the resorts? Then access to Blue Bay is free of charge and the use of a beach bed is also included.
Accommodation Blue Bay
The beach of Blue Bay is located centrally relative to all the sights on the island and is therefore a good place to stay when you want to see a lot of Curaçao. Blue Bay has got various options for overnight accommodation.
An accommodation that I can definitely recommend is the Bayside Boutique hotel. With its 36 rooms, the boutique hotel is not only small-scale, but is also located on a beautiful location: a 2-minute walk from the beach.
You can stay in a standard room, deluxe room or a grand suite and all the rooms have their own bathroom. The standard rooms and deluxe rooms are also equipped with a kitchenette with a fridge and coffee & tea making facilities. At the Grand Suites you even have a full kitchen with a cooker, a microwave, a fridge and coffee & tea making facilities.
Do you like to sit outside in the evening? Then choose a deluxe room or a grand suite with a terrace or balcony overlooking the patio.
The hotel is also equipped with good facilities such as free and fast WIFI (fiber optic), Netflix in all rooms, a swimming pool, a gym, private parking and even a washing machine and a dryer.

24-hour security
The beach of Blue Bay is located on the luxurious Blue Bay Curaçao Golf & Beach Resort. At the resort there are not only several accommodations, but there are also many people who live on Blue Bay.
In order to guarantee the safety of these residents and to guard their homes and belongings, security is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As soon as you arrive at the entrance to Blue Bay or when you leave the resort, you must report to the security staff present. After the license plate of your car is noted, the barriers will be opened for you and you can enter or leave the resort.
Facilities
The beach of Blue Bay offers various facilities, such as showers and toilets, which you can find on the left side of the entrance. On the beach there are plenty of beach beds available, both in the sun and in the shade under a swaying palm tree. Another advantage is that you are not lying side by side, like for example at Mambo Beach and Jan Thiel.
And if you are still looking for new swimwear, beach equipment, snorkel and / or diving equipment, then you can go to the Blue Bay Dive & Watersports Center, also the diving school of Blue Bay. Here they are happy to help you with everything regarding snorkeling, diving and other water sports.
For example, they rent out snorkel- and diving gear, but you can also register for an introductory dive or a diving course (PADI), hire a kayak or a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) and you can book all kinds of trips there. From diving, snorkeling and fishing trips to quad biking along the west coast of the island.

At Blue Bay there is a variety of restaurants and bars where you can have something to eat and / or have a drink.
Azzuro
On the left of the beach of Blue Bay you can find restaurant Azzuro. Every day, here you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner with a Mediterranean touch, while overlooking the beach and the Caribbean Sea. Are you crazy about pasta and still hanging around on the beach on Monday evening? Then join the pasta evening which is organized weekly at Azurro.

Sunset Bar & Grill
If you are looking for a romantic dinner location and want to enjoy good food, the Sunset Bar & Grill is definitely recommended. The restaurant is located on the left at the end of the beach and while you witness one of the most beautiful sunsets of the island you can enjoy delicious dishes prepared on the Green Egg (a type of barbecue). Every Wednesday you can also sit down for a good burger, because then a special Burger Night is organized.

Beach Bar
Just past the entrance, you will find the brightly colored Beach Bar on your right. A place where you can order various tropical cocktails, smoothies or snacks while sitting at the bar or on the terrace.
And if you do not feel like leaving your beach bed, you can also pass your order to the service on the beach. Then, if desired, the staff will bring your snacks and / or drinks to your beach bed.
Curaçao is also known for its Happy Hours and off course this cannot be missed at the Beach Bar. Every day you can join the Happy Hour from 17.00-18.00h (05.00-06.00pm) and on Friday the Happy Hour is one hour longer, from 17.00-19.00h (05.00-07.00pm), accompanied by live music.
Golf Club
In the middle of the Blue Bay Curaçao Golf & Beach Resort is the former plantation house Blauw and in this historic building the clubhouse of Blue Bay Golf is established. From 07.00h (07.00am) the Golf Club is open for breakfast and lunch, for both golfers and non-golfers. On the menu are various sandwiches, snacks, burgers or you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a nice glass of wine.

Pictures
A la carte restaurant Pictures is the own restaurant of the Bayside Boutique Hotel and in less than 2 minutes walking from the beach (on your right). The kitchen is Mediterranean with a French Twist and you can go there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, Pictures is known for its delicious pizzas and it is also possible to pick them up.

Golf
The 18-hole golf course (par 72), which was designed by William ‘Rocky’ Rocquemore, is the centerpiece and also the visiting card of the Blue Bay Curacao Golf & Beach Resort. Both experienced and less experienced players can play golf here. A golf license is therefore not required.
Regularly different tournaments are organized and you can join golf lessons and / or clinics. In the clubhouse, located in the former plantation house Blauw, you can go for a snack and / or drink. And if you are looking for golf equipment, then you can still visit the Pro Shop.
Various accommodations at Blue Bay also offer the possibility to play golf free of charge or at reduced rates. Ask about the possibilities at your accommodation at Blue Bay.
Diving and snorkeling
Blue Bay is a good diving location and is also a nice place for snorkelers to take a closer look at the colorful underwater world. From the beach you can swim to one of the two coral reefs, with on the left “The Garden” and on the right “The Wall”.
At both spot you cannot only see various types of coral, but you will also encounter different types of tropical fish. And if you are lucky you sometimes even see sea turtles and rays.
Although both places are located at Blue Bay, there is indeed a difference between the two reefs. For example, “The Garden” is a slope that starts at a depth of 5 meters and goes down to a depth of about 50 meters. “The Wall” is, as the name implies, a steep wall and starts at only 3 meters depth, but even reaches a depth of no less than 55 meters.
Both reefs can be explored either as a certified diver or under the guidance of a diving instructor. At the diving school, the Blue Bay Dive & Watersports Center you can rent dive- and / or snorkel gear, take diving courses and book diving and / or snorkeling trips.

Water sports
If you want to do something active during your day at the beach, beside relaxing on your beach bed, then this is also possible at Blue Bay. Massages
At Blue Bay you can book a relaxing massage. You can sign up for this at the pavilion on the right side of the beach.
Blue Bay with kids
The beach is also very suitable for children because the bottom slopes gradually and there is no current. In addition, they can also enjoy themselves at the playground or at the Kids Club.
The Kids Club organizes various supervised activities for children from 4 to 12 years old. For example, you can think of crafts, building sand castles, all sorts of games and treasure hunts. Every week a different program is offered.
